new wireline lamp for flos will be presented in milano in two different locations.
first as a preview in the collectors’ lounge of miart (5- 7 april), then at the salone del mobile (9-14 april) in the pavilion 24 at new design holding booth .
further elaborating on some of the design principles of the previous lamp wirering, formafantasma is again using the power cable as one of the main design features. flattened to resemble a belt made of rubber and hanging from the ceiling, the cable holds a ribbed glass extrusion containing a led light source.
the lamp, that can be installed as a single piece, or repeated to obtain elaborate visual compositions, is in fact reduced in size once packed.
wireline will available in 2 colors: grey and light pink.

for most swedes, the idea of hemma (home) is closely linked to a strong connection with nature. while this relationship is often romantic, nature can also be something threatening. what happens when it takes over? swedish design moves returns to milan design week this year with hemma gone wild– a sequel to the 2018 exhibition, hemma – stories of home.
a new installation exploring the home as place where wild nature takes over, curated by joyn studio.
join for fika time – swedish-style coffee break – offered daily from 10-11:30 am.
after the successful 2018 soundscape installation (featured by all the most important media worldwide), japanese glass and ceramic top producer agc is back with emergence of form.
patented by agc, brightorbtm is the real flagship innovation of this installation: this high-performance ceramic material has been specifically designed for 3d printers use and is a result of the extraordinary technological ceramic processing know-how acquired by the company during its 100-years-long history.
using two different sophisticated materials such as ceramics and glass, well-known japanese product designer keita suzuki has created a space that evokes the constantly fluctuating beauty of nature.
while in the real world the scenery never comes to a halt, by freezing the moment the artist recreated a scene that recalls a sort of “landscape of the heart”, something which should be familiar to anyone: the extraction of a single instant from the constant flow of nature captures its own essence.
thanks to its cutting-edge molding technologies for curved and three-dimensional glass surfaces and for ceramics 3d printing, agc designed an installation that captures a precise instant of a more complex and constantly changing phenomenon creating, in this way, a new form of “nature” composed by man-made objects.
a demonstration of glass and ceramics processing techniques explored by agc: innovative procedures that are able to go beyond the limits of materials.

an exploration in human movement
humanscale, the leader in ergonomic solutions that improve the health and comfort of work life, returns to milan design week 2019 with an immersive installation, bodies in motion. in a bold expression of sustainability, humanscale presents a minimally built, interactive experience that explores the essence of human movement. bodies in motion is a visual metaphor of humanscale’s commitment to human factors and designing for movement. the installation highlights their pioneering use of natural ergonomics, which draws upon the laws of physics and motion to design products that automatically adapt to the user’s position.
humanscale invited long-time design collaborator, todd bracher to create a multi-sensory experience at salone del mobile. with interest in exploring new modes of expressing human movement, bracher tapped studio thegreeneyl, a design and research practice with a focus on digital design. the installation reinterprets the original scientific method of motion perception developed by swedish psychophysicist, gunnar johansson in 1973, which involved placing lights on key points of the human body to highlight movement.
“when considering the experience, we looked to strip away cosmetic distractions and reveal human movement in its purest form. we wanted to extend this essential understanding of motion to fill the tunnel at ventura centrale in an experience that engages all visitors in the space,” says designer todd bracher.
bodies in motion will be displayed during milan design week in the historical vaulted warehouses beneath the milano central station as part of the third edition of ventura centrale.
