Give Bodum a degree of credit for trying to make a better cup of coffee by doing it differently. They give it a go on two machines.

Check the spent coffee grounds in your brewer; if they’re sloped your machine isn’t distributing the water evenly. The coffee drips into a plastic thermos that keeps it fresh and hot. Paper filter options instead of the de facto titanium-plated stainless steel filter would even be better. This brewer rivals Tehnivorm, and at $250 it could be the best home drip machine at the moment.
