corallo brings on stage a suggestive screening room on rails, an unexpected and evocative place, an authentic traveling salon inside a historic tram from 1928, reinvented in a contemporary way by cristina celestino and italian textile brand rubelli
the project is inspired by the theme of the journey, as an experience with dream and surreal overtones, that the designer carries within a d’antan cinema set up.
milan and its urban landscapes are the main subject of the surreal footage that enters through the ribbon windows at the back of the tram, in a dimension that seems to travel in space and time.

the salone del mobile, ponders the possible reconciliation of man and nature with an emotive installation that enters into the debate on the value of sustainable living.
the salone’s city-based project living nature. la natura dell’abitare developed with the carlo ratti associati (cra) international design and innovation studio, will be in piazza del duomo, in front of palazzo reale, from 17th to 25th april.
a single 500 square metres space, conceived with energy saving criteria in mind, will contain four natural, climactic microcosms that will enable all four seasons of the year to unfold at precisely the same time, one next to the other. visitors will be immersed in nature and experience its changes as they make their way through the four different areas: winter, spring, summer and autumn.
the project delivers a great ironic, evocative and experiential value. but the end goals are the reconciliation between urban, domestic spaces and nature on one hand, and, on the other, the suggestion of sustainable, genuinely applicable solutions. while air conditioning is often associated with excessive consumption, this project offers a radical change of perspective, demonstrating the feasibility of air conditioning technology that is also sustainable, with huge potential for future applications.
with this event, the salone del mobile is keen to make its contribution to the re-greening of the city, albeit temporary. living nature. la natura dell’abitare is designed to explore whether or not a space, urban or domestic, can become more human-friendly through the sustainable use of natural resources.
foscarini lamps reverse room is the installation created by the artist and architect james wines, together with his daughter susan wines, for milan design week 2018 at foscarini spazio brera. in a room with dark walls, upside-down and obliquely tilted, furnished by monochrome tables and chairs, the table lamps peer down from the ceiling, while the hanging fixtures sprout from the floor with the aim of challenging our perception of spaces and our responses to environmental stimuli and conventions.
the collaboration between foscarini and wines dates back to more than thirty years ago, with “table light / wall light”, a work produced by the company with wines’ site group in 1991 for the cultural areas of the exhibition in verona “abitare il tempo”.
today that work evolves in the project of a signature collection, the “light bulb series”, composed of a number of pieces in numbered limited editions: a precious collection, due to the story it tells and the thinking it conveys. lamps and objects that make their debut at foscarini spazio brera, in the context of the installation designed by wines.
