the 10th season of the architecture & design film festival – the nation’s largest film festival devoted to the creative spirit that drives architecture and design – will kick off in new york city from 16 > 21 october at cinépolis chelsea. with dozens of humanistic documentaries about creative visionaries, including design legend dieter rams and the engineer of the twin towers, leslie e. robertson, stimulating talks with filmmakers and architects, a pop-up bookstore, and interactive installations in the festival lounge, adff:ny is the perfect fall activity for design-loving new yorkers.

at the kimball showroom (nyc), idlny will host a special seminar to educate new york state interior designers about the national council of interior design qualification exam.
developed to demystify the certification process for interior designers, this session will offer designers a clear, step-by-step plan to prepare for and ultimately pass the ncidq exam. as a requirement for certification, the exam is the gold standard for demonstrating competency in interior design. passing the exam not only offers prestige and respect, but it will also open the door for interior designers at every step of their career, from qualifying for jobs to securing future leadership opportunities.

idlny leaders, with coalition partners iida ny and asid ny upstate/ canada east, will gather upstate in albany to lead a half day of programming for new york state designers.
the event was organized to equip new york state interior designers with knowledge about the legislation that currently regulates their rights to practice (for example, the “sign & seal” law prohibits interior designers from submitting plans or specifications to obtain a building permit for a project), as well as future bills that could impact them. idlny president dan villella will provide insight on these legislative issues and a ceu accredited seminar about advocacy will close out the evening. attendees will leave the session armed with the tools they need to work for change. this is a free event, but please register online with the link provided.
