Thomas Riley Studio, a gallery and atelier based in Naples, FL, will unveil The Versailles Collection, designed by creative director, Chad Jensen at ICFF. The limited-edition collection, which includes Silhouette de la Garonne, Silhouette de la Nymphe, Profil de Marie, La Petit and Château & Parc, reinterprets classical treasures for contemporary times and is comprised of tables and carpets. It represents the core principal of Chad’s work – the cross-pollination of fine art with design by exploring furniture as a more tactile and experiential art form that questions functionality and pushes the contextual boundaries of craft, tradition, and material.
For example, La Petit from the Artist Collaboration Series with Ysabel LeMay is based on period inspiration rather than literal Versailles references. Jensen chose one of the original “art furniture” pieces in history, the flip-top table, most appropriate as it was intended equally for function and decoration. The classical references in Ysabel’s work are infused with the organic modernity of a contemporary painter, yet expressed entirely through digital photography. The table design was inspired by the anatomy of a flower and Ysabel’s blossoming imagery
