Truth in form. Reason for being. Volume and wright.
Wright and Volume Gallery debut a selling exhibition via Wright 21, the contemporary design platform of the pioneering auction house. This exhibition begins Wright’s collaboration with guest curators to further engage design culture by creating compilations that survey contemporary practice in the fields of design and architecture. In this inaugural exhibition, Wright partners with Volume Gallery to present Truth in Form/Reason for Being.
Volume Gallery, known internationally for commissioning work from American designers, provides excerpts of contemporary culture in their exhibition Truth in Form/Reason for Being.
“Designed objects are the visual representation of progress”
The title of the exhibition is not intended to set parameters for the designers but to assist the viewer in understanding ‘now’. Truth in Form is related to the intention of form, and the likeness of that form to the concept of the author. In this regard, nothing is accidental or appropriated; each object is purposeful, and concise in measure. The reason for the forms’ Being, connects to the needs, forms, materials, or technologies available today. With this information one can dissect what it means to be truly of the moment.
“The reconciliation of technology and materiality in a time when the speed of progress is exponentially increasing, is a balance struck only on rare occasions.”
Finding it is often difficult to discuss the meaning of a moment without reflection – The Volume exhibition utilizes the lens of ‘reason’ to provide a snapshot of contemporary objects. Truth in Form/Reason for Being explores functional design, sculpture and pattern from artists/designers: Brian Anderson, Stephen Burks, Cmmwlth, Andy Coolquitt, Felicia Ferrone, Sung Jang, Jonathan Nesci, Snarkitecture, Rich Brilliant Willing, and ROLU.
