book swap at urban cabin, oxo tower wharf.
the second london design festival landmark project has launched at iconic london landmark oxo tower wharf: a collaborative project with mini living and local architect sam jacob.
located in the courtyard space at the design-led destination, the mini living team has designed a micro-house, ‘urban cabin’, as a research space for relevant urban needs and local identities in london. the structure consists of a clever module reflecting its environment and featuring distinct london characteristics created by jacob.
urban cabin is a place of exchange, bringing people together and replicating important elements of urban life. unique features include a shared kitchen, refering to the importance of food markets, and a micro-library in response to the decreasing number of public libraries.
visitors to the space are encouraged to share and swap literature from wednesday 20th september – sunday 24th, leaving a note for others with thoughts and opinions. titles range from those on the history of living in london to classic literature such as dickens, keats and shakespeare as well as design bestsellers.
