aqua creations with tabanlıoğlu architects presents “thru” for tepta’s 25th anniversary.
lighting and furniture atelier aqua creations is collaborating with acclaimed turkish architecture practice tabanlıoğlu architects on a bespoke installation commissioned by lighting specialist tepta. the commission will be part of “day, light, night,” a light exhibition organized by tepta to celebrate its 25th anniversary at the istanbul museum of modern art, due to open on 18october under the curatorial direction of leading lighting designer ulrike brandi.
internationally renowned for projects including the istanbul museum of modern art and atatürk cultural center, tabanlioglu architects designed the installation. this comprises of a series of rectangular light panels hanging from the ceiling, covered by aqua creations’ pleated silk in “coal” color. aqua creations’ founder and creative director albi serfaty designed a specially commissioned, square-shaped video art pendant lamp (val). invited by tepta to curate the video art concept, albi serfaty created a video that utilizes a patented addressable rgb led technology and miniaturised micro-computing.
the bespoke installation visually reflects the brand’s trademark artisanship and innovation, whilst embedding experiential lighting techniques. visitors walking through and around the installation will be drawn towards a playful interaction of light, silk and mirrors where the viewer is compelled to experience light from different perspectives in a captivating unison of dimmable images, translucency and reflective effects.
