foscarini presents reverse room at milan design week 2018.
foscarini lamps reverse room is the installation created by the artist and architect james wines, together with his daughter susan wines, for milan design week 2018 at foscarini spazio brera. in a room with dark walls, upside-down and obliquely tilted, furnished by monochrome tables and chairs, the table lamps peer down from the ceiling, while the hanging fixtures sprout from the floor with the aim of challenging our perception of spaces and our responses to environmental stimuli and conventions.
the collaboration between foscarini and wines dates back to more than thirty years ago, with “table light / wall light”, a work produced by the company with wines’ site group in 1991 for the cultural areas of the exhibition in verona “abitare il tempo”.
today that work evolves in the project of a signature collection, the “light bulb series”, composed of a number of pieces in numbered limited editions: a precious collection, due to the story it tells and the thinking it conveys. lamps and objects that make their debut at foscarini spazio brera, in the context of the installation designed by wines.
