Texas company makes metal gun with 3d printer.

Yesterday I started a post on 3D printed architecture with the following ‘Architects and designers are very excited about the potential of 3D printing and expecting big things when the right people master it.’ A day before CNN reported the gun news. A spokeswoman for the company said:

This is not about desktop 3-D printers. Solid Concepts used a specialized, high-end printer whose cost would be out of reach of most people.

Direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) is an additive metal fabrication technology developed by EOS of Munich, Germany, sometimes also referred to by the terms selective laser sintering (SLS) or selective laser melting (SLM).
