under the curatorship of luca molinari, the exhibition displays from the 16 to 22 april ceramic pieces developed with bitossi in an exclusive, limited series, and pieces from the sir john soane’s museum in london; as well as drawings, prints and videos made by adam nathaniel furman.
the exhibition venue is the studio of vudafieri-saverino partners, where tiziano vudafieri and claudio saverino have constructed a narrative work space, inhabited by eclectic artistic references, and which together with luca molinari has been re-invented for this occasion with a new and intriguing storyline.
it is a context based on contaminations between different styles, markings, and references, and which provides the perfect framework to adam nathaniel furman’s works, evoking the peculiar pop style which has rapidly brought him to the centre of public and critical acclaim.

the second edition of 1+1+1, a project by elena quarestani and curated by marco sammicheli, continues to explore the relationship between art, architecture and design in the works of three different authors. an architect, an artist and a designer have been invited to make new, site specific installations in the exhibition halls of assab one. the different codes and references of each particular discipline dissolve and converge in pursuit of creative visual search in painting and light, material and form, sound and performance.
johanna grawunder, american architect, constructs two large paths of light and co- lour into which the visitors can enter and wonder. bright hanging constructions in di- verse material and the surrounding darkened space offer an experience of crossing between reality and vision. the title of her installation is alone together.
christoph hefti, swiss designer, will install a surreal encampment where carpets, ceramics and other objects create a place of chance encounter between the imagination of the author and the reaction of the visitors. an installation of a visual and tactile arcipelago, full of suggestive sounds. the title of his installation is that horse, slamming doors.
antoni malinowski, london based, polish born painter alternates the selection of light sensitive paintings with light specific wall drawings. malinowski’s work examines the dynamic of light and pigment interactions on the junction of the pictorial and architectural spaces. the title of his installation is almost seen.
*during the days of milano design week assab one will host a special project by students of isia of faenza, coordinated by designer andrea anastasio.
lindsey adelman partners with calico wallpaper to present a joint installation of new lighting collection, drop system, alongside their debut of oceania. entitled beyond the deep, the multi-room presentation explores the effect of naturally occurring chemical reactions on surfaces and will immerse viewers into a dreamy world of alchemy and decay.
drop system, inspired by rows of bare bulbs in nyc subway tunnels and mondrian’s broadway boogie woogie, is comprised of brass tubing and handblown mini globes. lindsey challenged herself to be reductive in the number of unique elements such as straight lines and circles, to achieve the optimum number of potential configurations and range of aesthetic directions. drop system can be customized as a minimalist, spare configuration or accumulate to become a more opulent, drippy organic composition.
this exhibition will also show the next iteration of liminal collection, which was debuted at design miami in 2017 in an installation entitled “the edge of what we know.” this collection is intentionally “off menu” and much more sculptural in nature. each mobile-like assembly is a one-off piece characterized by a spontaneous and raw sensibility.

a space in which the experiential journey created by artist carlo bernardini, through a specific study of optical fibers that draw light shapes, brings the visitors to discover the energy of the new hyundai kona, first compact suv available also in full electric version, and the concept kite, electric dune buggy made by students of turin based ied’s master in transportation design with the support of hyundai’s european design center.
walking through the light installation, visitors will be brought in a dimension permeated by pure energy, that shows itself in geometries and perspective games crated by luminous optical fiber in the dark.
in bernardini’s works in fact, light is mediated by the use of optical fiber, which the artist uses since 1996, and with which he creates sensational effects of geometries and spaces that multiply the possibilities of vision and perception of the spectator, who finds himself inside the installation having the impression of being in front of a different artwork for each point of observation.
in a journey in which touch and hearing are also engaged, in addition to sight, “energy zone by hyundai” visitors enter a dimension where emptiness and darkness are the true substance, and where light becomes a mean to mold space, forcing them to use their imagination to see (or not to see) an invisible dimension.
