give architects a makerbot replicator 2 and you get the grand canyon. logiplaces.
here’s a creative and artful product concept hoping to catch fire. logiplaces is a 16 or 36-piece 3d concrete puzzle modeled after locations around the globe. created by budapest-based architecture studio planbureau, this story began when the firm won a makerbot replicator 2 in the what-to-print-in-3d? design contest. the replicator 2 is capable of printing in 100 micron resolution and generates the moulds of the logiplaces 3d concrete puzzles. to date, there are puzzles of san francisco, budapest, the grand canyon and zermatt in the alps.
planbureau has collaborated indiegogo to create a product that can be completely custom-made to represent any chosen place. the company is inviting the public to pick the next location through an online poll. after reaching its indiegogo goal of $15,000, the studio plans to release another model for every $5,000 of additional funding. logiplaces in just one product line offering in parent company [ logideez ]
