Ralph Gilles, longtime chief designer for Fiat Chrysler in the United States, has been appointed head of design for the automaker’s global parent. He succeeds Lorenzo Ramaciotti who is retiring. The sizeable move now puts Gilles in charge of designing new cars for Fiat, Maserati an Alfa Romeo.
Over the past 18 months Gilles has overseen design development of the Chrysler 200 (above) and the Jeep Grand Cherokee (below) .
While the company was in bankruptcy, Gilles quietly led the revival of the Dodge Viper.
The move now puts Gilles in charge of designing new cars for Fiat, Maserati an Alfa Romeo.
