the XXII triennale di milano aims to inspire during milan design week 2019.

Mar 1, 2019

reckonstruct, the us pavilion for the xxii international exhibition, will be unveiled at the triennale di milano. the pavilion emerged as a labor of love between committed partners including arup, humanscale, mit’s shine program, nextwave plastics, stickbulb and novità and demonstrates new possibilities in materials, design and manufacturing that allow us to leave the world better than we found it. we’re overwhelmed by the incredible ingenuity and dedication demonstrated by everyone in this collective to bring the exhibition to life.

laufen collaborates with studio eoos that created the austrian contribution to the xxii international exhibition of la triennale di milano with an ecological project – based on all of the technological know-how of the swiss ceramic specialist – broken nature: design takes on human survival, a group exhibition curated by moma senior curator paola antonelli that explores the power of design to deter climate change. the show includes a multimedia installation by arup and massachusetts institute of technology on the life cycle of materials.

the thematic exhibition consists of four works specially commissioned to international designers. the commissioned works have been entrusted to formafantasma (andrea trimarchi and simone farresin), to neri oxman and to his research group mediated matter group of mit media lab, to sigil collective (khaled malas, salim al-kadi, alfred tarazi and jana traboulsi), a collective based in beirut and new york, and accurat, research and innovation company in the field of data-driven design, with offices in milan and new york (project led by giorgia lupi and gabriele rossi).

the great animal orchestra will also be presented as part of the ‘broken nature’ exhibition. created by american musician and bioacoustician bernie krause and the english collective united visual artists (uva), the collaboration provides an immersive installation that presents a meditative interpretation on the necessity of preserving the beauty of the animal world. a number of directly commissioned works will also complement the thematic installation by highlighting design approaches aimed not only at correcting humanity’s self-destructive course, but also at replenishing our relationship with the environment and with all species – including other human beings.

in addition, mycosystem, the polish pavilion at the triennale. mycosystem showcases trees, fungi and humans in an interconnected system that opens new horizons for design. organized by the adam mickiewicz institute and developed by creative directors agata szydłowska, professor of design at the academy of fine arts in warsaw, visual artist małgorzata gurowska, and architect and designer maciej siuda, the exhibit offers a reflection on a new paradigm of sustainability and design.

artfood 2016+.

Nov 10, 2016

worldwide known art food appears in the extended version called artfood 2016+  in the astonishing, new cultural institution centre for the meeting of cultures in lublin.

centre for the meeting of cultures in lublin invites you to the opening of the art food 2016+ exhibition, to be held on 10 november 2016 at 6 pm

the opening will be accompanied by a molecular gastronomy showcase by jean bos, master chef at the agit hotel and the recipient of the “2007 best chef of the world” title. a molecular cuisine tasting will follow the showcase.

scheduled for november 10 at 6 pm, the opening will be accompanied by a molecular gastronomy show by pioneer of molecular gastronomy jean bos, master chef at the agit hotel and the recipient of the “2007 best chef of the world” title, who will also showcase the artfood range of crockery. the showcase will be followed by a molecular cuisine tasting, featuring dishes prepared with younger guests in mind.

for the duration of the exhibition, on every saturday (november 12, 19, 26, 2016) family-oriented ceramic workshops will be held, during which participants will familiarize themselves with decorating mugs and plates as well as with creating self-hardening clay (non-firing clay) holiday ornamentation.

organized by the adam mickiewicz institute, artfood is an international project integrating a number of domains: design world and the ceramic industry, education with professional reality, a diverse set of work methods and lived-in experience of numerous cultures. the aim of the project is to create unique and functional ceramic kitchenware – objects that can be used to showcase culinary art and which, by highlighting the beauty of exceptional dishes, may serve as a canvas for top chefs and cutting-edge food stylists.

this year, 12 students from two tertiary schools (cracow’s academy of fine arts and new york’s pratt institute) participated in the fourth iteration of the project. under the tutorship of marek cecuła, they created their own unique ceramic ware. at the beginning of july, the young designers attended art food workshops held at ćmielów design studio in the porcelain factory. the results of their work were previewed in the alchemia club in cracow.

in fall 2016 the designs were shown in the in-house gallery of the academy of fine arts in cracow as well as in the david weeks studio in manhattan. artfood 2016+ is shown for the first time ever in the centre for the meeting of cultures in lublin and for that reason it has been complemented by exhibits created in the course of previous workshops.

co-organized by marek cecuła’s modus design studio, academy of fine arts in cracow, pratt institute in new york, polish porcelain factories “ćmielów” and “chodzież” jsc, and ćmielów design studio. sponsored by the agit hotel – congress & spa, the exhibition is organized in partnership with lublin design institute.

curators of the lublin exhibition: izabela pastuszko and paweł hadrian
