Designer Mac Funamizu’s new concept combines the tactile qualities and hands-on approach we love in a Polaroid camera with the technological savvy of the iPhone. The “Sophie” is an iPhone dock and case that allows you to print out the photos you take with it just like a Polaroid camera. You can even add a QR code URL if you upload the photo to a website, and you can geo-tag your pictures to include a map showing where they were taken. Nostalgia meets high-tech – sounds right up Apple’s alley.
Oh, and did I mention he did all this in the aftermath of Japan’s 9.0 earthquake? That’s right – he had barely any water, gas or food yet he still managed to create a great design concept and upload images to his blog. I don’t know about you but when I’m hungry and the lights are out and my house is in shambles I can’t do much, let alone come up with new and exciting design ideas. Kudos to you, Mac. Here’s hoping Apple takes notice. [ more ]
