Dor Keenan is a 29-year-old designer from Jerusalem whose playful objects were just the kind of design diversion I needed this week. The Salt&Pepper trolley is actually a practical way to enforce proper table manners; most people don’t know that you always pass the salt and pepper together, even if someone only asks for one. Most of the designs are clever in this way, but my favorite is Racing Cards, which I first stumbled upon when I mistook it for a spin on the phrase, playing the the race card. Though the design has nothing to do with with a play on words, I think the Racing Cards are beautiful simply as objects, the kind of think I’d love to have on my desk. That may not sound like the most winning endorsement, but I actually can’t think of higher praise than wanting to see something in my immediate, personal space every day.
Peruse Keenan’s other objects, like the Flying Coasters or the easy, DIY bird feeder.
