“The brain is a category buster.”
-Elizabeth Phelps, American Cognitive Scientist,
2007

GRAVITY FREE is a truly unique multidiscipline design conference. Each year we pick a theme. Then we select 22 of the most passionate designers, design thinkers and innovators on the planet from 20 different design disciplines to help us explore the theme. The result: an experience like none other—a remarkable cross-fertilization of ideas and inspiration that only happens when such a remarkable variety of design influences interact.

GRAVITY FREE covers the waterfront of creative disciplines. Speakers come from architecture, retail display, storytelling, experiential environments, urban planning, customer experience, product design, information architecture, exhibit design, aerospace, interior design, theme environments, production design, illusion, molecular gastronomy, automotive design, technology and media, museum design, brand management… in fact, ANY area that offers something new and important. No break out sessions. Everyone has the same experience.

This year’s conference theme, “The Year of Dangerous Minds”, celebrates creative risk-taking. It explores the boldness of larger-than-life revolutionaries who redraw the boundaries with their own personal line in the sand and whose shock waves often reverberate well beyond their own disciplines.

As always, the GRAVITY FREE speaker list will include a diverse mix of architects, product designers, urban planners, innovation strategists, experience designers, screen writers, graphic designers, authors, aeronautical designers, scientists, automotive designers, retail designers, and visionaries of every stripe. They all share a cheeky disregard for conventional opinion and status quo. Their uncompromising passion for what they believe makes them, in a word, dangerous.

This year, the iconic Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago is the site of the entire conference. What better surroundings than the richly experiential exhibits that have fired millions of imaginations?

Please note that seating is limited. Designers and clients get first priority. Others will be notified as space becomes available. If the Book Club premiums are important to you, you should consider registering at the earliest possible date to receive the most free books.

GRAVITY FREE VENUE: 2008 is May 12-14, 2008 at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry.

THE REGISTRATION FEE: For a limited time our sponsors are offering a matching registration grant. You can now register one designer at the regular price of $1650 and invite a second person to join you as your VIP guest at no additional cost. Two registrations for the price of one! But you need to act quickly, the matching grant expires soon and this offer is made on a first come-first served basis.
