local, independent designers taking it to the streets again. for the 7th time, young designers use moving trucks and the loading dock in fulton market to exhibit and sell their newest work at the 7th annual guerrilla truck show. this year has 30 trucks plus other events at thirteen off-site venues. this effort takes place while neocon is in chicago.
This year, we will be introducing PechaKucha to the festivities, hosted by Chicago Artists Coalition, Skyline Design and The Southern Design Concern, a collective promoting work of young designers in the American south. In true guerrilla form, various food carts, trucks, and restaurants will be in the area to satisfy foodie cravings.
Truck Show veterans Craighton Berman, Angela Finney-Hoffman of Post 27, Object Society and Object Design League will be returning for their 7th year running. Catherine Jacobi and Steven Haulenbeek will be on display in our showroom. Fresh-minded students from Harrington College of Design, UIC Industrial Design, and The School of the Art Institute will be showing their work as well. Nnew participants: Bombshell Skateboards, Method Bicycles, General Assembly Design-to name a few.
This year, an esteemed panel of jurors to select a recipient of Best in Show. The panel includes: Scott Wilson, Industrial Product Designer and owner of Minimal; Jan Parr, Editor in Chief of Chicago Home and Garden Magazine; and Zoe Ryan, Chair and John H. Bryan Curator of Architecture and Design at The Art Institute of Chicago.
