The office of John Ronan Architects, located in Chicago, is comprised of dedicated design professionals committed to producing of the highest quality, marked by conceptual innovation, investigation of materiality, and a strong attention to detail. Every project is approached as a unique challenge, and the work ranges in scale from the small (furniture and product design, galleries) to the very large and complex (large mixed-use institutional facilities). To each of these projects the office brings an exploratory attitude to the investigation of space and materiality, and a concern for issues of sustainability and the performance of the building over time, both functionally and environmentally.

The firm’s work has been exhibited in New York and Chicago and has been published in many international design publications. John Ronan has lectured throughout the United States and serves as the firm’s lead designer and principal-in-charge. He received a Master of Architecture degree with distinction from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 1991 after completing a Bachelor of Science with honors from the University of Michigan. He established his practice in 1999, and is currently a Full Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
