I know a little bit about the story of the Atomic. A friend told me about Bon Trading in Sydney selling genuine Atomics so I went. I am just glad that I have a genuine Italian-made Atomic and not anything else. Old world craftsmanship will last longer.

The Atomic has been manufactured by over a half a dozen companies in its 60 year history. The current version available through Ikon Exports is amazing unit, producing excellent coffee. As the original factory in italy is no longer in existence, not since 1986, Anyone claiming to be still offering the original is being, to put it kindly, misleading.

Amazing how much bunkem people will write about the Atomic design. The last Italian genuine Atomics built and sold by Robbiati were in 1986! Anything built since that date are in fact replica's or copies if you like.

Bon Trading no more own the design than Sorrentina the only thing BT in fact hold is the Trademark which is for the logo and name. More discussions here if you want to join in www.coffeesnobs.com.au

The Robbiati Coffee machine was originally imported into Australia and continues to be sold under the trade name "Atomic" by the Bon Trading Company of Sydney. One was given to me as a wedding present in the early 60's.
There are copies made from the original Robbiati design and given the "Atomic" label causing much confusion. Aficionados who want the original - go to the Bon Trading Company web site.

Coffee was really become a part of our daily lives..
In house, work etc...These coffee makers make a more intensely
flavored coffee than other coffee makers. I would love to try it.

I was given a sorrentina last christmas. The shop keeper insisted that it was an Atomic machine, but I can assure you it is not. It does not compare. I have had trouble trying to froth the milk. It doesn't seem to have enough steam.

This one looks just like a FAKE one made somewhere in Asia. Cheap in quality and nowhere close to the original Atomic.

This is a typical fake. Probably made in Taiwan. Nothing compared with a real original Atomic.
